Stephen Harper and the Holy Cracker

I'm not going to write about the religious or farcical aspects of Stephen Harper and the Holy Cracker.

Because so many have weighed in, and for me what really matters is whether the Cons LIED.

Stephen Harper committed no etiquette blunder at the funeral mass of former governor-general Roméo Leblanc, his spokesman said, denying speculation that the Prime Minister pocketed a communion wafer offered to him by a priest.

Even though there is a video...

Just like they lied about why Diane Ablonczy was publicly humiliated for funding the Gay Pride Parade.

When in fact, this story explains almost EVERYTHING.

And the rest is explained by what happened a few years later when Manning got tired of listening to his now Policy Chief's extremist ideas, and Harper quit in a huff and went back to Calgary. Where he had a sort of nervous breakdown brooding personality crisis. Split up with his girl friend, and found religion. In this radical evangelical Church.

The Alliance Church, to which Harper has belonged for decades, believes Jesus Christ will return to Earth in an apocalypse, won't ordain women, strongly opposes abortion and divorce, condemns homosexuality as the most base of sins, and believes those who aren't born again are "lost."

Which in turn explains why one of the first things he did when he came to power was remove the word "EQUALITY" from the Status of Women's charter. And why he destroyed the National Daycare program, to try to keep more women at home.... barefoot and pregnant.

Explains Harper's backward views on homosexuality...he believes it's a choice. Explains his unwavering hostility to gay rights. His decision to boycott the AIDS Conference in Toronto. And of course why Diane Ablonczy was burned at the stake...so hastily.

As well as explaining why as a member of a church that is known for its aggressive missionary zeal, and its belief that it owns the truth and the whole world must CONVERT, if he had been seen to consume a Catholic communion host he would have been SHUNNED by his own kind.

You see here's the point....Harper doesn't just NEED the "Christian" Right. This cold, cruel, bully is secretly one of them. And if he ever gets a majority we'll soon be living in a Canada we won't recognize.

Which is about all I can bring myself to write about this Wafergate story.

Because let's face it. It is like a snowball fight in July.

Except of course to wonder ......

Hosti. Ciboire.Tabarnac.

Whatever happened to that Holy Cracker?

Yikes. Somebody call the SPCA...or the Pope.

Seriously though...I'm always surprised that so many Canadians know so little about Stephen Harper.

Because you know what they say eh? If you don't know the horror you're fighting.

How will you ever defeat it?
